CHE’ BEST aka Shay Best

Che’ was born and raised in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area, where she began her musical journey in church with her family. Raised by a church pianist, Che’ had little excuse for not embarking upon the world of music. She jokingly says that she came out of the womb singing.
 
When Che’ was a little girl, her grandfather had a juke joint (club) across the street from where she lived. She heard endless hours of disco and rhythm and blues. She sang and danced along with every note from a near distance. 

While attending college in Charlotte, North Carolina, Che’ was recruited into her college modeling troop: modeling lead her to photo shoots for magazines, hair products, department store fashion shows and pageants. Once it was discovered that Che’ was an outstanding vocalist, with great stage presence, her music career blossomed and she began auditioning and touring with several off -broadway gospel plays, leaving Charlotte for more music opportunities in Los Angeles.

1997-1998, Che’ worked with rapper, producer Heavy D and McGruff, on album titled “Destined to Be”

1998-2001, Che’ worked with Producers Norm Connors and Tavie’ of Funk group, Lakeside on her self titled album, Che’ Best and a remake of “Didn’t I Blow Your Mind”

2000, Che’ debuted in her first movie, indie project on Netflix,
“Love Beat the Hell Out of Me” produced and written by Paul and Kennedy Goldsby, starring Terrance Howard and Glenn Plummer

2000- 2005, Che’ began touring internationally to various parts of Asia, as Che’ Best, the artist and continued touring with other opportunities that arose between Los Angeles and other parts of the United States

2005-2007, Che’ toured with martial artist, Blues singer/guitarist, Steven Segal, as co-lead and background singer, along side Jermaine Paul- Season 2 winner of the hit TV show “The Voice”

2009, Che’ performed as background singer with legendary artist, Barry Manilow

2010- 2013, Che’ went back to Asia to promote herself and R&B/Disco music 

2014, Che’ booked 2 national print ads for Sony and Delta Airlines, 1 regional ad with Lincoln Financial

2015-2017, Che’ became an author of two short books on Kindle E-Books and created her own Top 40/ R&B band, that performs for celebrity artists, weddings, and corporate events

Che’ has worked with a host of Grammy nominated-winning artists such as:
 Howard Hewitt, and Marcus Nelson of male group AZ Yet, in addition to the late, R&B singer Gerald Levert, Ali Woodson, formerly of the Temptations, and R&B singer, Vesta Williams.
